(Makeup) ffwD: Dieter’s Tartine

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

I didn’t have a chance to pick up duck breasts or peaches in time for this week’s assignment, duck breasts with fresh peaches, so I’m posting a different Dorie recipe instead. This dieter’s tartine (chopped tomatoes, sliced cucumbers, and dill on toasted bread slathered with non-fat fromage blanc) was actually the ffwD assignment for July 26th. However, when I saw how simple and healthy it was, I didn’t want to skip it completely nor post it for next week’s choose-your-own assignment. I’m going to use that on a Dorie recipe I skipped that takes a bit more effort. Does that make sense? However, fennel and raw onions are still no-nos to my tastebuds, so I will continue to ignore Dorie’s chunky beets and icy red onions. I’ll get back on track at some point!

This dieter’s tartine was made as a part of French Fridays with Dorie, a group of bloggers who are cooking their way through Dorie Greenspan’s Around My French Table: More Than 300 Recipes from My Home to Yours.

Beautiful and simple! And haha, I’m a bit ‘meh’ about raw onions too… no issues with cooked ones though.

This looks good but beetroot is one of my favs so the chunky beets and icy red onions sounds right up my alley.

Looks good, but I’m curious about the non-fat fromage blanc; is it store bought or home made?

Yeah, this was a winner…and yours is beautiful with the cucumber sliced. For my family, I have to skip the curries…Bill was forced to have a Dorie curry for dinner, but I don’t think I can do that to him again🙂

Delightful! Now I am craving fresh dill… You are so funny. I am also not a huge beet fan. When I was growing up, my mom used to pickle beets in this sickening sweet way, just the thought of it makes me green… LOL Take Care, BAM
