TwD: Baking French Strawberry Cake with Julia

I’m not sure why, but when I first read this recipe, I thought Dorie named it “Fresh Strawberry Cake”, which I thought was pretty unoriginal. Good thing I re-read the instructions the next morning because “French Strawberry Cake” made more sense somehow.

Anyway, I made this cake a couple of weeks ago for my sister’s (Codename: Gamer Psychologist) graduation! I baked the cake the night before she and the rest of the family arrived and planned on decorating the day of. My other sister (Codename: DSN Engineer) helped me frost, decorate and photograph the cake that afternoon, while my third sister and her two daughters (Codenames: Chunklet’s Mom, Chunklet and Bacon Monster, respectively) helped by eating the cake later that evening!

This cake was a hit and surprisingly easy to prepare. The method was new to me as the leavening was created by air bubbles in the batter as opposed to adding baking powder or baking soda. To find the recipe for French Strawberry Cake, head over to this week’s hosts: Sophia of Sophia’s Sweets and Allison of Think, Love, Sleep, Dine.

You did a great job, since it was not easy to get 3 layers. Perfectly colorful for a graduation! I couldn´t manage to frost the sides with the amount of cream it specified; really didn´t care since I´m not a fan of cream. Beautiful cake!
