Afternoon Drive Munchies: Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

Last week, my sorority sister (Codename: GPL) sent me a gleeful text: “OMG. Mrs. Fields has a pumpkin chocolate chip cookie!”

This cookie sounded intriguing, so I decided to make a batch using Food Network’s recipe. And, to make them more Mrs. Fields-esque, I scooped the cookie batter using my ice cream scooper which produced oversized cookies.

I like how the the resulting cookies turned a wonderful orange-y, golden brown color. As for the taste, the milk chocolate chips tasted delicious against the spicy pumpkin, which is saying something considering I’m not a huge fan of pumpkin. Even though I made larger cookies as opposed to the heaping tablespoon sized ones suggested by the original recipe, I still ended up with a ton of cookies. So, I shared them with the Afternoon Drive Crew over at 107.5 WGCI, my office staff, and even sent a box of cookies to my sorority sister in sunny West Palm Beach! I mean, she was the one who gave me the idea!

    So fall is here.

Pumpkin cookies and chocolate seems like a great combination in a cookie. Heading over to foodnetwork for the recipe.

GONE IN LESS THAN 5MIN!!! I actually told Yummy that I would time just how long it took for me to walk in with said cookies and the amount of time before they were actually gone. I don’t think she even made it out of the building!

Before she even told me she was coming by, jocks and producers alike had started asking this question…..”RadioDiva, when is your “sister” coming by again with treats?!?!?” Spoiled. We have been spoiled ROTTEN. Theses cookies were unbelievable…soft and cake like..HUGE..a mouthful of chips in every bite..followed by the warmth of the pumpkin and spice. Absolute perfection for an afternoon drive!! Thanks again Yummy….YOU ROCK!!! =)

That’s interesting, I’ve done pumpkin chocolate chip muffins before, but never came across the same mix in cookie form. They do look tasty.

As for the size, I started to make my chocolate chip cookies bigger (also using my ice cream scoop) a couple years ago after reading an article in the New York Times about the perfect chocolate chip cookie. The article claims that cookies should be a bit bigger so that they get the perfect ratio of caramely crispy exterior and chewy interior. And it’s so true.

I remember going to Mrs. Field’s cookies every week. My mom used to take us to the mall and it was the only way she’d get us to behave! Those cookies will always have a soft spot in my heart. πŸ™‚
