Afternoon Drive Munchies!

A week ago, I skipped ffwD and made “Tribute to Katharine Hepburn” brownies instead. My guinea pigs for those brownies were members of the afternoon drive crew over at Chicago’s top hip-hop station, 107.5 WGCI. I’ve known the traffic reporter since we were kids in Arkansas and through a random set of events, we’ve both ended up in Chicago as adults.

Anyway, after the success of the Katharine Hepburn brownies, I made a different brownie recipe this week for the afternoon drive crew to sample: Brrrrr-ownies! I used Dorie Greenspan’s recipe again, which incorporates chopped York Peppermint Patties in the brownie batter.

Needless to say, the minty bits in the chocolate were a huge hit! I’m thinking the next set of treats will include peanut butter.

The recipe for Brrrrr-ownies can be found in Dorie’s Baking: From My Home to Yours cookbook.

This is my kind of brownie. I love the chocolate-mint combination and could eat several of these as soon as they had cooled enough to eat. I hope you have a great day. Blessings…Mary

I saw your pictures and I thought, “No, she didn’t! She did not put those peppermint patties in those brownies.” And yes, yes you did! That looks so tasty to someone not eating sugar!

Sometimes I think, brownies are perfect when they are simple. But I always have a soft spot for peppermint patties. So, so good!

You are KILLING me with these crazy addicting and chocolatey, peppermint spiked brownies. And rock on for refusing to make any otherwise spiked brownie. I have a Ina peanut butter swirl brownie on my blog if you want to take a peek or go to Food Network. Have a great week!
