Berry Burst Oreo Ice Cream

A few weeks ago, my sister (Codename: Chunklet’s mom) brought me a Southern indulgence that I don’t see that often in Chicago: different flavored Oreo cookies. She wanted me to try the Berry Burst Ice Cream flavor, and I thought they might work in actual ice cream. However, since I’m now just making food for myself, I really reduced the basic ice cream recipe. The following recipe made about two bowlfuls.

1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
1/2 c. half & half
1/4 c. sugar
5 Berry Burst Ice Cream Oreos, crushed

Whisk the first three ingredients and chill in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. Pour mixture into ice cream maker and mix for 15 minutes. Pour in the crushed Oreos and mix for another five minutes. Scoop ice cream into freezer proof container and freeze overnight. When serving, garnish with two more Oreo cookies.

No Berry Burst Oreos in central PA either. Not only would I love to try them in ice cream, can you just imagine a Deep Fried Berry Burst Oreo? I can’t but I’d be willing to experiment. (I’m crazy for the regular deep fried oreos, so sinful:)

Thanks for sharing, yummy. I’ll be checking Wegman’s on Friday!
