Happy National Ice Cream Day!

Somehow, I missed this fun national holiday typically celebrated on the third Sunday in July (the 17th this year). I must’ve been too distracted by the U.S Women’s World Cup loss to pay attention. (Cry!) But, better late than never to celebrate ice cream, right?

Ever since getting my own ice cream maker in May, I’ve been extremely happy experimenting with fun flavors. Good thing I’ve upped my walking time every day (even in this heat!) to burn the calories! This week, I stuck with a simple ground cardamom cream mix but incorporated crushed graham crackers for a bit of crunch. It was pretty tasty! I’m probably going to make graham cracker ice cream sandwiches with the remaining ice cream this weekend. Happy belated National Ice Cream Day!

That is a very sexy looking ice cream and I love the idea of ice cream sandwiches – however, I don’t know what a Graham cracker is. We have paper crackers (long round coloured paper containers) with gifts in them at Xmas – each party pulls one end resulting in a small pyrotechnic explosion, the paper “cracker” is torn in half by the opposing forces and out falls a tiny gift.

Today is my wedding anniversary and had no idea it’s national ice cream day! How cool is that. With the hot temps we’ve been experiencing ice cream is perfect way to cool down!

I love ice cream so much in the summertime, I have an ice cream maker but rarely use it! Maybe for company. Your ice cream looks so fresh and full of yummy ingredients. If you’re going to indulge in ice cream- should always be the good pure stuff;-)

I had to laugh at Food, Photography & France and the cracker post. People here in Australia look at me funny when I talk about graham crackers too. I order them from the US food store in Melbourne. What Yank can operate without a graham cracker from time to time?

    Yummy ice cream!

Even if it missed National Ice Cream day, your ice cream was worth waiting for! Ground cardamom cream with graham crackers sounds absolutely wonderful. My dil made vanilla ice cream today in my new ice cream machine, and after tasting it I’m wondering why I waited so long to use it. 🙂

I love that you added the graham cracker! I always go with the ice cream that has a bit of texture…either cookie dough, or nuts, you know just something that breaks up all the cream 🙂 Great Ice Cream Day ice cream!

It is never too late to talk about my beloved ice cream. I love that you gave this a nice crunch and with the flavor of cardamon- amazing. I used to love this strawberry and balsamic and graham cracker ice cream I got when I used to live downtown. Oh don’t you just love how happy ice cream makes us!

You are amazing. This is a wonderful blend for ice cream. I am planning to make ice cream tomorrow but I am not sure I will have time. You are my motivator. If I pull it off, I will let you know.

I have to cook for Ina’s Garden. I have no idea yet what I am doing. Shame on me.
