Saturday was very bright and sunny, and I wanted to bake something that encapsulated that lightness. I came across a recipe for hot milk cake by Taste of Home. It sounded delicious, and I thought it was worth a try. I’ve never made a hot milk cake before, so I was a bit wary about beating the sugar and eggs for so long (five minutes!) But, the recipe also seemed ripe for variation, thus prompting me to incorporate honey and cardamom into the hot milk and butter mixture.
This cake was rather tasty, though mine probably didn’t bake as evenly because I had just baked a casserole on 450 degrees right before lowering the temperature to 350 for this cake. Oh, well. I suppose I can try again sometime but I’m quite pleased with the results from today.

I’m a fan of anything that involves cardamom. Sounds delicious! That’s so funny how it’s thin in the middle and really thick at the crust. It has personality.
